News Alerts Intro

News alerts help you stay current on particular topics. Once you create an alert in one of our news databases, you will get periodic emails with links to articles that match your search criteria. I set most of my news alerts for once-daily notification. This page gives step-by-step instructions for setting up periodic alerts in our four news databases. The process is simple and only takes a minute or two for each alert.

Newspaper Source Plus (Ebscohost)

Go to the Newspaper Source Plus homepage,
- Login, or create an account and login.
Craft your search
When you have a good search, run it.
Then, under "Share", choose "Create an Alert"
You have 2 or 3 choices to make here; after making your choices, save the alert, and you are done.

Newsbank

Go to the Newsbank homepage
- Login, or create an account and login.
Craft your search
- Default search is a full text search. To get better control over your search, Click on More Search Options
When you have a good search, run it.
Then,choose "Create Alert"
You have 2 or 3 choices to make here; after making your choices, save the alert, and you are done
Warning: Newsbank specializes in smaller regional and city newspapers. These papers often run the same national stories, so you are likely to see the same article (or nearly the same article) in different papers.

U.S. Newsstream / Global Newsstream (Proquest)

Go to the Proquest Newsstream home page,
- Login, or create an account and login.
Craft your search.
When you have a good search, run it.
Click on "Save Search/Alert"
Choose "Create Alert"
You have a few choices to maker here; after making your choices, save the alert
