LGBTQ Evergreen: Asexuality and Aromanticism

Resources for support, inquiry, scholarship, community.

Basics and Beyond

AVEN - The Asexual Visibility and Education Network is a well-known first stop to learning Asexuality 101. The homepage describes that "AVEN hosts the world's largest online asexual community as well as a large archive of resources on asexuality."

AUREA - Aromantic-spectrum Union for Recognition, Education, and Advocacy an entirely volunteer-based aromantic counterpart to AVEN. It even has a page for academic research on aromantics.

The Asexual Agenda is a blog run by several members of the asexual community as well as having avenues for submissions. It is intended to be a website that goes past the basics of asexuality that you see on most sites. They have several posts discussing asexual research (with links to articles), particularly from their Ace Journal Club. They also discuss history, such as The Asexual Manifesto, a document from the 70's.

[Note: Asexuality and Aromanticism is still trying to gain recognition, so for now the bulk of the serious discussion on and within these communities often happen in blogs or forums (as well as the budding research often drawing from those sources). Researchers are still struggling to define the communities they are researching, which can affect their accuracy. Hopefully as time goes on, there will continue to be better sources over time.]
