Games are a unique art form. The game designer doesn't just create a world; they create who you will be in that world. They tell you what abilities to use and what goals to take on. In other words, they specify a form of agency. What can we learn about our own rationality and agency, from thinking about games?

One little-known facet of antique board games is the quality of original artwork that went into their design and manufacture. While there are many books on the market oriented towards antique game collectors, this volume may be the only one that concentrates on the unique works of art that were featured on the playing boards and the boxes they came in.
