The James F. Holly Rare Books Room secured funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions. The funds have been used to perform a preservation assessment of the collection and a preservation workshop for library and archives staff. On Tuesday, November 9th, library and archives staff gathered on the third floor to learn about preservation basics, handling, disaster preparedness, and policymaking. Part of the day was spent on making enclosures and book cradles for rare books. Below are some photos taken during this exercise. For more information about the Rare Books Room, check out the Rare Books Room Guide.
